>>>>>>>>>>>> Note to FS9 Users <<<<<<<<<<<< Though TileProxy has been compatible with FS9 for the last several Beta versions, it's development has been mostly geared toward improving performance in FSX. The current Beta 7 version features significant changes that offer very fast FSX tile loading performance as compared to all previous versions and is the fastest version to date for FSX users, but your performance may vary in FS9. If you have both FSX and FS9 installed and wish to fly both from time to time, Beta 7 will definately provide superior performance in FSX, and thus far the latest Beta 7 (March 3rd, 2008 release) seems to perform satisfactorily in FS9 and seems to benefit a bit from the expanded preload function added to this last release. Initial tests from a few users however, including myself , have revealed a few anomalies in FS9 with Beta 7 that were not an issue in Beta 6, but your results may vary. So, if you plan to use only FS9 with TileProxy you may wish to compare Beta 7 with the Beta 6 version to see if you gain an edge either way. Beta 6 also includes the great new water masks (first introduced in that version) and has proven to be very stable with FS9 in general. Should you decide to try Beta 7 first and then evaluate Beta 6, it's best to do a complete uninstall (using the "Uninstall TileProxy and Data" link in the TP start menu), then afterword, manually delete the "TileProxy" folder in your FS root folder. The uninstaller leaves this behind to preserve your TP configuration files, under the assumption you're upgrading to the "next" successive Beta version. So in the case of reverting from Beta 7 to Beta 6 you'll want to delete this entire folder before proceeding. To download Beta 6, use the same link as in Step 1 of the quick guide (then look for the Beta 6 version in the download archives just below the Beta 7 link at sourceforge.net). You'll also need this pre-configured Beta 6 ProxyUser.ini file rather than the Beta 7 version as they differ in a few respects. |
